Updated: February 28, 2026 (Andrii Nikitonok)
Ukraine closed out Euro 2026 with two medals.
Ukraine's junior women's épée team won the European team title for the third year running. The final events of the 2026 continental championship took place in Tbilisi on February 27.
This medal marked Ukraine's second at this year's Europeans, following silver for Anna Maksymenko in the individual event, and Ukraine's third straight team épée gold, after wins in 2024 and 2025.
On the championship's final day, meanwhile, Ukraine's sabre and foil teams couldn't get past their first bout.
How Day Four of the 2026 Junior European Fencing Championships Went for the Ukrainians
Épée
- Ukraine's team épée squad was represented by tournament runner-up Anna Maksymenko, this year's bronze medalist Emily Konrad, 2026 Cadet European Championships silver medalist Alina Dmytruk, and Mariia Sereda.
- Seeded first, Team Ukraine began the competition in the round of 16, where they beat Norway. In the quarterfinal, the team defeated the Swiss, and in the semifinal, Estonia.
- That set up a final between Ukraine and Hungary — the same matchup as last year's competition. For the first two rounds of bouts, the Hungarians held the Ukrainians to no more than a two-touch lead, but the final three bouts, from Konrad, Maksymenko, and Dmytruk, closed out the match 45:37, securing the 2026 Junior European Championship title in team épée.
Sabre and Foil
- Meanwhile, the sabre team on the championship's final day featured Daniil Skorokhod, Dmytrii Zahrebelnyi, Oleksii Ataian, and Oleksandr Liakh. The team lost in the round of 16 to Russia (24:45), then finished 12th in the 9th–16th place bouts.
- The national foil team consisted of Yanislav Koretskyi, Daniil Matiash, Artem Korzhovyi-Lerner, and Andrii Simonov. The Ukrainians also lost their opening bout, to Israel (26:45), finishing 12th after the lower-bracket matches.
