Team Ukraine Finishes Eighth in the Youth Mixed Relay at the 2026 Junior World Biathlon Championships
The team managed to climb nine positions over the course of the race.
Team Ukraine finished eighth in the youth mixed relay at the Junior World Biathlon Championships, held in Arber, Germany. The national team was represented in the race by Taras Tarasiuk, Kyrylo Kulchytskyi, Alina Khmil, and Viktoriia Khvostenko.
In the championship's first race, Taras Tarasiuk won silver in the youth men's individual race. A day later, Viktoriia Khvostenko brought Ukraine bronze, and Oleksandra Merkushyna added another silver to the national team's total.

How Team Ukraine Fared in the Mixed Relay at the 2026 Junior World Biathlon Championships
- Championship silver medalist Taras Tarasiuk took the course under bib number six. The Ukrainian arrived at the shooting range in seventh, and thanks to fast, precise work on the targets, came out the leader. At the standing stage, though, Tarasiuk needed seven shots, dropping to a provisional fifth, ten seconds behind the leader.
- Kyrylo Kulchytskyi took over the relay in sixth. The prone stage didn't go well for the Ukrainian — four penalty laps dropped Ukraine to 17th. He cleared the standing stage with six shots, but couldn't make up ground.
- Alina Khmil managed to gain four positions, clearing the first stage clean. She reached the standing stage in 11th. After using one spare round at the second stage, Khmil handed off the relay in ninth.
- Viktoriia Khvostenko gained one more position after the prone stage, using six rounds. In total, Team Ukraine finished eighth, with four penalty laps and eight spare rounds used.
