Ukraine Kicks Off the 2026 Junior World Fencing Championships in Rio: Schedule and Team Roster

Team Ukraine's fencers are kicking off the 2026 Junior World Championships, taking place April 1–9 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Over nine competition days, six sets of medals will be awarded in individual events and three in team events. A cadet world championship will take place in parallel.
The 2026 Junior World Fencing Championships will be held at two venues from the 2016 Olympics: the velodrome (preliminary rounds) and Arena Carioca (direct elimination). Earlier, at the Junior European Championships in Tbilisi, Ukraine won gold and silver.

Team Ukraine's Roster for the 2026 Junior World Fencing Championships
At the 2026 Junior World Championships, Ukraine will be represented by 12 fencers each in men's and women's individual and team events in épée, sabre, and foil.
Épée
- Junior men: Arsenii Karapysh, Maksym Hula, Maksym Mykytenko, Andrii Skok;
- Junior women: Emily Konrad, Anna Maksymenko, Alina Dmytruk, Mariia Sereda.
Foil
- Junior men: Yanislav Koretskyi, Hlib Mukhopad, Daniil Matiash, Andrii Simonov;
- Junior women: Ahlaia Borysova, Svitlana Bryzghalova, Valentyna Dermenzhy, Milana Stepovyk.
Sabre
- Junior men: Daniil Skorokhod, Dmytrii Zahrebelnyi, Oleksii Ataian, Ariel Eibelman;
- Junior women: Viktoriia Korotchenko, Maiia Velychko, Anna Suvorova, Mariia Hrabova.
The roster also includes three athletes who have previously won medals at the Cadet-Junior World Championships — Anna Maksymenko, Emily Konrad, and Alina Dmytruk. Notably, this same lineup won the previous World Championships in the team épée event.

Junior World Fencing Championships: Interesting Facts
- Since independence, Ukraine has won 79 medals at the Cadet-Junior World Championships, 22 of them gold.
- Sabre fencers have brought home the most medals (40), with épée close behind at 35.
- The most decorated Ukrainian fencer at the Cadet-Junior World Championships remains sabre fencer Olha Kharlan. Between 2005 and 2010, she won 11 medals, including eight golds.
