How Oleksandr Bondarev Fared in Monza: The Round in Detail

  • In practice on his 'home' track, Bondarev posted the eighth- and sixth-fastest times, respectively. In qualifying, the Ukrainian finished fourth in his group and eighth overall. As a result, Oleksandr landed in Group B, so he ran both group races on Saturday.
  • Bondarev started the first race fourth. Throughout the race, the driver battled with Consani, Craigie, and Savinkov, and on the final lap crashed into the barrier while trying to avoid a collision with his French rival. As a result, Oleksandr failed to finish the race.
  • The Prema Racing driver raced in the second group race that same day. Starting sixth, Bondarev managed to gain three positions, but two laps from the finish went off onto the gravel. Oleksandr finished 16th as a result, though a rival's penalty moved him up one spot, putting him back in the points.
  • The starting grid for the final race was based on the group race results, so Bondarev started from 29th. The Ukrainian managed to climb to 18th, but engine trouble forced him to retire to the pits. As a result, Oleksandr scored one point for the round.
