Disney Announces Frozen 3, Lilo & Stitch 2, and Zootopia 3: What We Know
What was revealed at D23 2026.
Disney unveiled details on its upcoming films at D23 — the company's fan event, where the studio shows first footage and announces new projects.
This year, for instance, audiences got announcements for new Avengers, X-Men, Star Wars: Starfighter, Frozen 3, Lilo & Stitch 2, Coco 2, and Zootopia 3 films.
What's known about these upcoming releases — read on in this DeTalks article.
Marvel — Avengers: Doomsday
Marvel Studios opened D23 by unveiling a new trailer for Avengers: Doomsday, focused on the film's main antagonist — Victor von Doom. He'll be played by Robert Downey Jr., returning to Marvel after Tony Stark's story ended, this time in a new role.
The new project brings together characters from the Avengers, Fantastic Four, and X-Men universes in one story. The heroes will face an existential threat unlike any they've encountered before: Doom, once benevolent, now accuses the heroes of 'stolen lives,' raises an army of robots, and declares that hell itself answers to him.
In the new film, audiences will see Sue Storm played by Vanessa Kirby, Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards from the Fantastic Four, and Thor's Chris Hemsworth and Captain America's Chris Evans from the Avengers.

Actors from the previous X-Men films will also join the cast, including Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, James Marsden, Rebecca Romijn, and others.
The film's first official trailer racked up about 503 million views in 24 hours. That's the second-most successful trailer release worldwide, after the Spider-Man: Brand New Day trailer.
Avengers: Doomsday is directed by Joe and Anthony Russo. The premiere is set for December 18, 2026.
X-Men

At D23, Marvel also unveiled the cast for the new X-Men film, which will be the first feature film about the mutants developed entirely in-house by Marvel Studios.
The cast will include Sadie Sink, who previously made her Marvel debut in Spider-Man: Brand New Day and will play Jean Grey. Audiences will also see Kit Connor as Scott Summers/Cyclops, Christopher Abbott as Professor Charles Xavier, Samara Weaving as Emma Frost, and others.
In a separate video message, Adam Driver confirmed he'll play the villain Nathaniel Milbury, better known as Mister Sinister.

The studio isn't revealing the plot, official title, or a first trailer yet. What is known is that the film will be directed by Jake Schreier, with a theatrical release planned for May 5, 2028.
Star Wars: Starfighter

Disney confirmed that in the new film Star Wars: Starfighter, Ryan Gosling will play Kade Oberon, whose fate is tied to the fastest starship ever built in the galaxy. At D23, Gosling and director Shawn Levy showed an exclusive teaser for the film.
The film will be a standalone story within the Star Wars universe, set in a period never before shown on screen. The plot follows a lone cynic with a complicated past who gets pulled into a dangerous adventure across the galaxy. The cast includes Matt Smith, Mia Goth, Aaron Pierre, and Amy Adams.

The release date was chosen to mark a symbolic moment: Starfighter hits theaters May 28, 2027 — the same weekend the original Star Wars premiered 50 years earlier.
Frozen 3
The company also revealed the first details about Frozen 3. In the story, Anna and Kristoff will get married, and Olaf will find his first love — a character named Samantha. Josh Gad, who voices the snowman, performed a new song about his feelings at the presentation, titled 'Ooooh, Samantha.'
Disney also showed new footage featuring Anna, Elsa, Olaf, Kristoff, and Sven. A new villain also appeared in the footage, wielding magic similar to Elsa's powers.

And while the plot is still kept under wraps, it's already known that the cast returning to voice their characters will include Kristen Bell, Idina Menzel, Jonathan Groff, and Josh Gad, with Jennifer Lee and Trent Correy directing. Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez once again write the music.
Frozen 3 hits theaters November 24, 2027.
Lilo & Stitch 2
Disney also showed the first material from Lilo & Stitch 2 — a sequel to the film that grossed over a billion dollars worldwide in 2025.
In the new film, Maia Kealoha returns as Lilo, and audiences will see, for the first time on screen, a new pink companion for the blue alien Stitch.
Angel, or Experiment 624, is an alien known for her siren song, which can turn reformed experiments back to the dark side. The character first appeared in the Lilo & Stitch animated series, and now makes her film debut in the sequel.

The film will be directed by Chris Sanders — co-writer and director of the original 2002 animated film, who also voiced Stitch in both the animated and live-action versions.
Filming is set to begin in Hawaii later this year, and the film hits theaters May 26, 2028.
Coco 2

Disney and Pixar showed the first concept art for Coco 2, depicting Miguel now as a teenager, alongside his loyal dog, Dante.
Among the new details, the studio confirmed the return of Ernesto de la Cruz — the antagonist from the first film. He'll again be voiced by Benjamin Bratt.
In the story, Ernesto returns seeking revenge and sends Miguel on a new journey to the Land of the Dead. This time, the hero will have to team up with his former enemy to make it through the new adventure.

The original Coco team has returned to work on the sequel. Lee Unkrich will direct again, with Adrian Molina co-directing and Mark Nielsen producing.
The film hits theaters exclusively in November 2029.
Zootopia 3

Finally, Disney officially confirmed that Zootopia 3 is in early development. The news was announced at D23 by Ginnifer Goodwin, who voices Judy Hopps, Ke Huy Quan, the voice of Gary DeSnake, and Disney Animation chief creative officer Jared Bush.
During the presentation, audiences also got a special look at the upcoming film.
Disney hasn't announced a release date or plot details yet. What is known is that Judy and Gary — 'the rabbit and the snake,' as the creators joked during the presentation — will return for the new installment.
The announcement of a third installment came after the success of Zootopia 2, which grossed $1.8 billion worldwide and became the highest-grossing animated film in Disney history.
